Pulled Pork Smoked on the Weber Kettle Grill
Pulled Pork on the Weber Kettle Grill
Everybody loves Pulled Pork. A pork Shoulder is relatively cheap, easy to make, and you can’t mess it up. However, really good Pulled Pork takes time, effort, skill. Here’s how I like to make Pulled Pork. I don’t have a large pellet or barrel smoker so I just used my Weber Kettle Grill. It takes some work and patience to use the old school charcoal method, but its totally worth it.
Ingredients:
• 8-10 lb. Pork Shoulder
• Salt, pepper, garlic powder mix, & your favorite BBQ Rub
• Your favorite BBQ Sauce
Tools Needed:
•Your Favorite Smoker – Pit, Weber, Traeger, etc. (I used my Weber Kettle grill)
• Your Favorite Smoking Wood (I like Cherry & Hickory chips)
• Cooking Utensils, aluminum pan, basting brush & Aluminum Foil
Directions
-
- Trim the pork shoulder removing excess fat
- Coat the surface area with Salt, pepper, garlic, & BBQ Rub
- Allow the rub to set on the meat for at least 30 minutes
- Arrange charcoal briquets and wood chips around the outside of the grill forming an indirect heating zone
- Light one end of the charcoal and let the grill come up to about 250ºF
- Place the Pork Shoulder on the grate in the indirect heat side of the grill
- Spritz the meat frequently to prevent burning
- Pull the pork shoulder off after the exterior is set (3-4 hours)
- Place the meat in a shallow aluminum pan
- Baste the meat generously with your favorite BBQ Sauce
- Place the Aluminum pan back on the grill or in a 250ºF Oven
- Use a meat probe to monitor the meat
- Cook until the interior temperature reached 200ºF
- Baste the meat generously with your favorite BBQ Sauce
- Place the Aluminum pan back on the grill or in a 250ºF Oven
- Allow the glaze to set for about 30 minutes
- Remove the Pork Shoulder and allow to cool slightly
- Once the meat has cooled enough to handle, pull the meat apart removing excess fat
- The meat is ready to eat or to be chilled for later
- Enjoy with your favorite fixin’s
The Pulled Pork can be enjoyed right away. If you’re serving on another day you can reheat the Pulled Pork in the oven at 250ºF for at least an hour. Be sure to add a little liquid in the pan for moisture.
